One
experience that has played a huge role in my life is my mom getting diagnosed
with breast cancer. I was always close to my mom we use to watch movies all the
time when I was younger. When she got told that she had breast cancer the whole
family was scared for her. My mom is the nicest person in the world how could
this happen to her. Watching my mom go through that was one the scariest things
I had to do. Even though it was scary it did bring my family closer together. After
what seemed like forever my mom final got some good news.
When
I was a little kid my mom and I were very close. As I was growing up we weren’t
as close as we use to be. About three years ago my mom was diagnosed with
breast cancer. It was a very scary and emotionally thing to deal with. I was
upset that I wasn’t as close to her as I use to be. Her getting diagnosed made
me grow up so much and appreciate everything she does a lot more. I was scared to think I could lose my mom I love
her. We took every day one step at a time. Each day had their own battles to go
through but we mad it though them all together.
This tragedy
also brought my family closer together. Since my mom couldn’t clean and do the
chores around the house my sister, my dad and me started do all the chores that
had to be done. We didn’t want my mom to worry about it. We want to make her
happy because she was going through a lot. She loved having a clean house but
since she was going through chemo she couldn’t do everything she wanted to. She
would help us as much as could but we never expected her to. We always wanted
her to just take it easy we would handle it. She didn’t like to feel useless
that is why I think she would want to do even just the littlest bit around the
house if she could. Also through everything she didn’t miss a lot of work. I don’t
know how she did it but we were proud of her.
After a few
months of chemo she got some of the best news, that she didn’t have cancer
anymore. They told her to continue keeping an eye on things because she does
have a good chance it could come back. At first I was so happy and thought it
was too good to be true, but it was. I was also scared for a while that it was
going to come back, but it hasn’t and I hope it never does. My mom does deserve
to go through that again. It might have been hard in the family, but it was defiantly
hardest on her. My family and I thank God every day for not taking my mom from
us. I don’t know where my family would be without her she keeps everything
together and running smooth. My mom is like the glue that holds the family
together. She always does as much as she can for my family no matter what.
This experience defiantly
changed my life. It made me appreciate everything in life a lot more then I use
to. It also showed me that family can get through anything if they stick together.
Even though we weren’t as close as I was getting older I still loved her and
she was always there when I need her. My mom having cancer was the biggest
thing my family ever had to deal with, but we all made it through. When mom
told me that the doctor said everything looked good I thought it was too good
to be true.
